The Medway Fire Department, established in 1973, is a dedicated emergency response agency staffed by a team of twenty paid on-call firefighters. The department's personnel include the Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, two Lieutenants, firefighters, junior firefighters, and traffic control specialists.
Responsible for safeguarding the Town of Medway, the department’s coverage area extends to Interstate 95 from Mile 242 to Mile 249, as well as Molunkus Township. Additionally, the department actively participates in mutual aid agreements with the East Millinocket, Mattawamkeag, Millinocket, and Sherman Fire Departments to enhance regional emergency response efforts.
Annually, the Medway Fire Department responds to an average of 100 or more emergency calls.
The department maintains a well-equipped fleet consisting of four apparatus: Engine Tanker 881, Engine Tanker 882, Tanker 884, and ERU 887, ensuring efficient and effective fire suppression and emergency services .
